Globetrotting Inspirations
My travels have taken me to some of the most exotic locations on the planet, from bustling markets on the riverside of Africa to the tranquil landscapes where wild elephants roam. These adventures fuel my creativity, bringing unparalleled depth and authenticity to my work. The stories behind finding unique beads in Africa or capturing the majestic beauty of wildlife on the savannah are woven into each piece, offering you something truly one-of-a-kind.
A Lifelong Passion
My journey began in the mid-60s in Fort Worth, Texas, where I first established "Photo Dot," focusing on my photography. I was the photographer for a children’s preschool for several years, and this experience introduced me to an interest that would soon turn into passion.
A pivotal moment came when Jim Stegall, a remarkably talented artist recognized both in the U.S. and internationally, became my mentor. He earned a spot in the 1976 12th edition of Who’s Who in American Art. A distinguished alum of the Academy in Philadelphia, his expertise was highly sought for the restoration of old masters' paintings. Under his guidance, my passion for painting flourished, marking the start of a journey that spanned over 50 years with him.
My venture into the world of beading was equally transformative, thanks to Elizabeth Knodle of the Craft Guild of Dallas, who imparted her exceptional knowledge and skill, enriching my artistic endeavors. Our weekly gatherings were group lessons filled with learning various methods of stringing an array of beads, including vintage and handmade beads. Remarkable in countless ways, the cherished memories of joy and learning I shared with her will always be treasured.
